Rajasthan, Jan 14: A man was critically injured after being allegedly beaten by villagers on suspicion of cow smuggling in Rajasthan’s Khairthal-Tijara district, police said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, following which the injured man, identified as Sahun Khan, was admitted to the Alwar district hospital and later referred to Jaipur for advanced treatment.

According to police, Khan and three others had allegedly attempted to take away three cows that were grazing in a field. Villagers noticed the movement and chased the group. While two of the accused managed to flee, Sahun Khan was caught and allegedly assaulted by the villagers.
Doctors at the trauma ward of Alwar district hospital said Khan sustained fractures to his hands and legs. “He requires surgery, which will be conducted in Jaipur,” a doctor said.
Police said a probe is underway to ascertain the sequence of events and fix responsibility in the case.
