Pakistan steps up LoC activity months after Operation Sindoor

Jammu, Jan 12: Months after India’s decisive Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has stepped up covert and aggressive activities along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB), with intelligence inputs indicating the construction of new defensive structures and heightened surveillance on the Indian side.

Sources said the Pakistani Army has begun reinforcing bunkers and forward positions on its side of the border, deploying additional manpower and allegedly using civilians as human shields. Uniformed soldiers and civilians are reportedly being used to carry out close reconnaissance of Indian forward posts, suggesting attempts to map defensive positions along sensitive stretches of the LoC.

Security agencies have also confirmed the deployment of Pakistan’s elite Special Services Group (SSG) commandos in vulnerable border areas. Officials believe this forward positioning reflects Islamabad’s strategy to keep pressure points active along the LoC amid sustained bilateral tensions.

Meanwhile, fresh drone activity was reported late Sunday evening from the Pakistani side. Indian Army units detected multiple drones flying close to forward areas and responded swiftly, forcing them to retreat. Though the drones returned to Pakistani airspace, officials said the incident was taken very seriously due to the increasing frequency of such attempts.

Sources further revealed that the Indian Army possesses crucial classified inputs regarding Pakistan’s latest tactics. Authorities stressed that all suspicious movements are under constant surveillance and any violation of Indian airspace will invite a firm response.

On Friday night, security forces recovered an arms consignment in Paloora village of Ghagwal near the IB in Samba district. The cache, allegedly dropped by a Pakistani drone, included two pistols, three magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition and a grenade.

Tensions along the border remain high following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians and India’s subsequent launch of Operation Sindoor. During the 25-minute operation, Indian forces fired 24 missiles at nine locations, destroying 21 terror camps deep inside Pakistani territory. The ensuing four-day exchange of drones and missiles inflicted heavy damage on Pakistan’s military infrastructure, after which Islamabad sought a ceasefire. Hostilities were paused following talks between the Directors General of Military Operations of both countries.
