Mother kills 11-month-old daughter, dies by suicide after family dispute

Hastinapuram, Jan 10: A tragic incident unfolded on Thursday night as a 27-year-old mother allegedly killed her 11-month-old daughter before taking her own life at their residence in Hastinapuram. The victims have been identified as Sushmitha and her daughter Sushma.

According to police, Sushmitha is suspected to have administered pesticide to the infant following a dispute with her husband, Yashwanth Reddy, reportedly over the child’s birthday celebration. She later hanged herself in the house.

Sushmitha’s mother, Lalitha, also consumed poison in the incident and was admitted to a hospital. Doctors confirmed that her condition is stable.

Yashwanth Reddy, who returned home later that night, found both Sushmitha and the child unconscious and rushed them to the hospital. Doctors declared Sushmitha and Sushma dead on arrival.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the family dispute that led to the tragedy.
