New Delhi, Jan 8: The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Patna, is conducting extensive searches across India in connection with a large-scale government job scam, in which an organised gang duped aspirants by offering fake appointments in government services.
While the scam initially appeared to involve Indian Railways, investigations have revealed that the network spanned over 40 government departments and organisations, including the Forest Department, Railway Recruitment Board, Indian Post, Income Tax Department, High Court, PWD, Bihar government, DDA, and the Rajasthan Secretariat.

Officials said the gang created fake email accounts impersonating official government domains to issue fraudulent joining letters. To gain the trust of victims, some aspirants were even paid salaries for two to three months, being falsely shown as appointed to posts such as RPF personnel, TTEs, and technicians in Indian Railways.
As part of the ongoing probe, ED teams are conducting searches at 15 locations nationwide: Muzaffarpur (1) and Motihari (2) in Bihar; Kolkata (2) in West Bengal; Ernakulam, Pandalam, Adoor, and Kodur (4) in Kerala; Chennai (1) in Tamil Nadu; Rajkot (1) in Gujarat; and Gorakhpur (2), Prayagraj (1), and Lucknow (1) in Uttar Pradesh.
The ED has said that the operation is part of a broader effort to dismantle organised networks that exploit job aspirants through fake recruitment schemes.
