Chennai, Jan 1: Superstar Rajinikanth ushered in the New Year by unveiling the first look of director Sooriyaprathap S’s upcoming science-fiction thriller ROOT – Running Out Of Time, creating a wave of excitement among fans and cinema enthusiasts. The film features actor Gautham Ram Karthik in the lead role and is being positioned as an intense, high-concept thriller.
Sharing the first look poster on social media, Gautham Ram Karthik expressed his joy and gratitude at having his idol, Rajinikanth, release the poster. Calling it a dream-come-true moment, the actor described the gesture as one of the most meaningful blessings of his career. He noted that beginning the year with Rajinikanth’s support made the moment feel surreal and added that the film now embarks on what he called a “timeless journey” with the Superstar’s blessings.
The release of the first look has significantly heightened expectations around ROOT, not only because of its genre but also due to several notable firsts associated with the project. One of the major highlights is the Tamil cinema debut of Bollywood actor Aparshakti Khurana, who plays a crucial role in the film. Adding to the buzz, Aparshakti has dubbed for his own character in Tamil, marking his first time voicing a role in the language.
The film’s production house, Verus Productions, had earlier announced Aparshakti Khurana’s Tamil dubbing through an enthusiastic social media post, describing the experience as a meaningful cultural crossover. The makers had previously revealed that the film completed its shooting schedule on November 1.
