Faridabad, Dec 31: A late-night search for a lift turned into a horrific ordeal for a woman in Haryana’s Faridabad after she was allegedly raped inside a moving van by two men, who later threw her onto the road and fled, police said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on the Faridabad-Gurugram road. Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to trace the accused.

According to the complaint, the woman had stepped out of her house late at night following an argument with her mother. Police said she had called her sister around 8.30 pm, informing her that she was upset after a quarrel at home and was heading to a friend’s place, assuring that she would return within three hours.
The sister told police that around midnight, the woman was waiting for a vehicle when an Eco van stopped. Two men were already inside the vehicle, and she accepted the lift after they offered to drop her safely. However, instead of doing so, the men allegedly drove the van towards the Gurugram side.
Police said the assault took place after the vehicle crossed the Hanuman temple on the Faridabad-Gurugram road. One of the accused continued driving while the other allegedly raped the woman inside the moving van. The vehicle reportedly kept moving for nearly two hours during the ordeal. Despite resisting, the woman was unable to escape, police said.
At around 3 am, the accused allegedly pushed the woman out of the moving van and fled. She suffered serious injuries to her face and head after falling onto the road.
Police spokesperson Yashpal Singh said the victim required stitches due to severe injuries. “A case has been registered on the basis of the complaint given by her sister, and the investigation is underway,” he said.
After the incident, the woman managed to call her sister, who rushed to the spot and took her for medical treatment. She was first admitted to Faridabad Civil Hospital, from where doctors referred her to AIIMS Delhi considering her condition. Police said she is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Faridabad.
Officials said police teams are scanning CCTV footage along the route, collecting forensic evidence and making efforts to identify and arrest the accused at the earliest.
