Kolkata, Dec 30: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday urged the people of West Bengal to give the BJP a chance to govern, asserting that the party would replace “fear, corruption, and misgovernance” with good governance.
Addressing the press in Kolkata, Shah positioned the BJP as the alternative to the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and other past governments. He accused TMC chief Mamata Banerjee of “abetting infiltration of Bangladeshis for electoral benefit” and said the BJP would not only identify infiltrators but also drive them out once in power.

Shah also blamed the state government for delaying fencing along the Bangladesh border, claiming that West Bengal was not providing the required land.
On economic concerns, he alleged that the state had seen an “unprecedented slide” in its economy, with industries fleeing due to misgovernance. Shah further claimed that the TMC has surpassed the Left in spreading fear and violence, stating that more than 300 BJP workers have been killed and over 3,000 remain unable to return to their homes due to political pressure.
Highlighting corruption, Shah said top TMC leaders had faced jail time for swindling public funds, adding that machinery used to count cash recovered from their homes reportedly malfunctioned due to overheating.
Projecting BJP’s plans for Bengal, Shah promised to stop infiltration from eastern borders and ensure the state’s revitalization, confidently predicting a BJP government in West Bengal by 2026.
