Archbishop Ferrao calls for love, peace this Christmas

Panaji, Dec 24: Archbishop of Goa and Daman, His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao, has extended warm Christmas greetings to the Catholic community and all people of goodwill, urging everyone to live the true spirit of the season through love, humility and fraternity.

In his Christmas message, Archbishop Ferrao said Christmas is a profound celebration of God’s boundless love for humanity. “The all-powerful God humbled Himself to become part of His creation, so as to lift it up and unite it back to Himself,” he said.

Reflecting on the challenges of the present-day world, the Archbishop noted that peace and justice often appear distant in a society that glorifies power and strength. He said the message of the Child of Bethlehem is clear — that love rooted in humility has the power to build a world founded on peace, justice and fraternity.

He called upon the faithful to become messengers of hope by bringing peace to disturbed communities, justice to the oppressed and fraternal love to families, neighbours and those in need.

Extending wishes along with Auxiliary Bishop Simiao Fernandes, Archbishop Ferrao concluded by blessing all, saying, “May the love and peace of Jesus be with you always. Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!”
