Dikshit Assures Action on CWG Lapses

New Delhi, Feb 22 (IANS): Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Tuesday promised action against those guilty of financial lapses in the preparations for 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG) here.

Dikshit said steps would be taken after getting the recommendations of parliament's Public Accounts Committee and a group of ministers examining the reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General and the Shunglu committee on the issue.

Dikshit, while releasing a report card of her government, defended Public Works Department Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan against Lokayukta Justice Manmohan Sarin's adverse remarks related to an alleged tax evasion by a resort.

Dikshit said that there was no corruption involved in Chauhan's case.

The Lokayukta last year suggested Chauhan be sacked for his alleged involvement in protecting a leading resort in a tax evasion case but the recommendation was rejected by President Pratibha Patil.
