Mulgaon, Dec 22: A motorcycle rider was injured after a leopard suddenly jumped onto his bike while attempting to cross the road at Mulgaon on Saturday night around 8 pm, triggering panic among residents in the area.
The incident occurred on the Mulgaon main road, causing severe damage to the motorcycle. The rider, identified as Digambar Naik, a resident of Mulgaon, sustained injuries to his hand and leg.

Naik was immediately rushed to the Bicholim Health Centre, where he was given primary treatment. He was later discharged after doctors confirmed that his injuries were not life-threatening.
Local residents said leopard movement in and around Mulgaon has increased in recent days, creating fear among the public, especially during night hours. In response to repeated sightings, Forest Department officials have installed a cage in the area to trap the animal. However, the leopard continues to be spotted in populated localities.
Concerned residents have urged the authorities to take urgent and effective measures to prevent further such incidents and ensure the safety of people in the region.
