Goa ZP polls in full swing as 8.68 lakh voters decide fate of 50 seats

Daijiworld Media Network – Panaji

Panaji, Dec 20: Voting is underway across Goa today in the Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections, with around 8.68 lakh eligible voters set to cast their ballots for all 50 seats in North and South Goa.

The polling, overseen by the State Election Commission, began smoothly this morning and will continue until evening, with security and administrative arrangements in place to ensure a free, peaceful and transparent election.

The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has come into force across all ZP jurisdictions, and a total of 1,284 polling booths — 658 in North Goa and 626 in South Goa — have been activated for the rural civic polls. Reserved seats include provisions for women, OBCs, SCs and STs in both districts.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, with observers and enforcement teams deployed across constituencies to handle any irregularities. Results are expected to be declared following vote counting scheduled in the coming days.
