Mumbai, Dec 18: Bollywood icon Madhuri Dixit Nene and her husband Dr Shriram Madhav Nene have sold their residential apartment in Mumbai’s upscale Juhu area for Rs 3.9 crore, nearly doubling their investment made over a decade ago.
According to property documents accessed through CRE Matrix, the transaction was registered on December 15. The apartment, located on the fourth floor of Iris Park at Deep Varsha Co-operative Housing Society on Military Road, has a carpet area of 780.13 sq ft. The buyer has been identified as Darshana Ghatlia, who also availed a one per cent stamp duty concession under the Maharashtra government’s incentive scheme for women homebuyers.

Madhuri and Dr Nene had purchased the flat in June 2012 for Rs 1.96 crore. The appreciation of close to 100 per cent over nearly 13 years underlines Juhu’s continued appeal as a premium residential hub, known for its celebrity homes, beach proximity and well-established infrastructure.
The sale adds to a series of real estate transactions involving the actor. In December last year, she rented out a commercial property in Andheri West for Rs 3 lakh per month, with the rent set to rise to Rs 3.15 lakh after the first year, as per the registered agreement.
Even as she makes strategic property moves, the 58-year-old actor is also preparing to return to screens in a strikingly different avatar. Madhuri will be seen performing her own action sequences in the upcoming series Mrs Deshpande, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor.
In the series, her character is trained in Krav Maga, an Israeli self-defence martial art. Speaking about refusing a body double, Madhuri said authenticity was key, as the contrast between her character’s appearance and strength adds an element of surprise. She also takes on intense action scenes opposite a male co-actor nearly twice her size.
Opening up about playing a darker, unconventional role, Madhuri said audiences have evolved, especially after exposure to global content during the lockdown. She noted that layered and complex characters are now being embraced, making it possible for women actors to explore bold and path-breaking roles.
Mrs Deshpande, which also stars Priyanshu Chatterjee and Siddharth Chandekar, is set to release on JioHotstar on December 19.
