Kaup, Dec 18: The Udupi District Lokayukta conducted a raid on the Kaup Urban Planning Authority office following complaints from the public. The operation was initiated after allegations that files related to public interest had not been cleared of for a long time.
A team of Lokayukta police has been inspecting documents since morning. Several public interest applications were found pending without proper disposal, prompting the action.
The Kaup Urban Planning Authority functions from the Kaup Municipal Council building. Allegations regarding delays and irregularities in file clearance had earlier been raised during a Kaup public grievance meeting as well.
Based on the public complaint, the Lokayukta proceeded with the inspection and verification of records.
The raid is being led by DySP Halamurthy Rao and inspector Manjunath.
