Poetica Kavighoshti 47 held; student essentials distributed at Bajpe Little Flower School

Mangaluru, Dec 18: Poetica Kavigoshthi 47 and a free distribution programme of shoes, socks, and toys for school children was organized at Little Flower Higher Primary School, Bajpe on December 16. The programme was presided over by Sr Flavia Wilma, counsellor to the provincial superior of the Bethany Institution, Mangalore Province. Sr Lilly D’Souza, superior of the local convent, was present as the chief guest.

The programme began with a prayer song. The students warmly welcomed everyone with a welcome dance. The in-charge headmistress, Delsy D’Souza, extended a cordial welcome to all. The event was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. Naveen Pereira, Surathkal, chief of Poetica, explained the objective of the program in his introductory address. The dignitaries on the dais symbolically distributed shoes and socks to a few students. As a mark of honour and remembrance, headmistress Delsy D’Souza presented rose saplings to all the guests.

Sr Flavia Wilma delivered the presidential address, appreciated the activities of Poetica, and conveyed her best wishes. On behalf of all the students, Kumari Misri shared her thoughts. The vote of thanks was proposed by Shweta D’Silva and the programme was compered by Anita Saldanha, both assistant teachers at the school.

Poetica Kavigoshthi 47 was held under the chairmanship of Maxim Rodrigues. The poets Edward Lobo, Thokkottu; Hussain Katipalla; Stanislaus D’Souza, Kirem; Juliette Moras, Derebail; Irene Mendonca, Cascia; and Naveen Pereira, Surathkal, chief of Poetica, recited their poems. Edward Lobo of Thokkottu also entertained the audience with mimicry.

Finally, shoes, socks, and toys were distributed to all the children. The joy and excitement of the children who received the toys created a festive atmosphere in the school, spreading waves of happiness all around.
