Houston Konkan Catholic Association celebrates festive spirit with grand Christmas Gala

Houston, Dec 18: Houston Konkan Catholic Association (HKCA) ushered in the festive season with a Christmas gala held on December 13 at Bellagio Banquet Hall in Houston, Texas. The venue was decorated with elegant décor reflecting the spirit of the season.

The evening featured a selection of beverages and appetizers, including seekh kebabs, chicken tikka, samosas and channa chaat.

Emcee Darel D’Souza kept the audience engaged with lively interaction and smooth coordination throughout the programme.

HKCA president Leslie Mathias presented a recap of the association’s activities over the year and expressed gratitude to the volunteers and sponsors whose support contributed to the success of the event.

Santa Claus made a surprise appearance, delighting children and adults alike. Families took photographs with Santa and made use of the photo booth, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

Members and guests joined in singing Christmas carols, accompanied on guitar by Meryl Pinto, with Allen D’Souza, Rachel D’Souza and Kiara Vaz as lead singers.

Each table was named after a verse from the carol ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’, encouraging light-hearted interaction among attendees.

Incoming committee members introduced themselves to the gathering, adding to the flow of the programme.

Several cultural performances were presented, with dances set to songs including Arabic Kuthu, Teri Baton Mein and Feliz Navidad. The performers included Karen Miranda, Kristal Pinto, Sheryl Jacob, Chris Pinto, Aakash Jacob, Kiara Vaz, Rachel D’Souza, Jessica Fernandes and Karen Vaz.

Events director Chris Pinto curated the music for the evening, with members participating enthusiastically on the dance floor until the conclusion of the programme.

Spot prizes and games were conducted during the event, adding to the engagement of the participants.

Dinner comprised chicken korma, chicken hara masala, bhindi masala, veg pulao and chicken Alfredo pasta for children. Flan was served as dessert.

Grace before meals was led by Nigel Pereira.

The association acknowledged the contribution of photographers Roshan D’Souza, Dinesh Vaz and Reanne D’Souza for documenting the event.

HKCA expressed appreciation to its platinum sponsors Stella and Nicholas Naik. Other sponsors included Sherosh Delights LLC owned by Sandra D’Souza, Shobha and Michael Valdar, along with anonymous donors.
