Mangaluru: Catholic Sabha Unit hosts Christmas gathering at Permannur parish

Mangaluru, Dec 17: The Catholic Sabha Unit of St Sebastian Parish, Permannur, organised a vibrant Christmas Gathering on Tuesday evening at the parish premises, bringing together parishioners for an evening of fellowship, celebration and gratitude.

The stage programme was presided over by the parish priest, Fr Cyprian Pinto, who delivered an inspiring Christmas message highlighting the true spirit of the season. The dais was graced by assistant parish priest Fr Melvin D’Souza; Santhosh D’Souza, president of the Catholic Sabha Central Committee; Rolphy D’Costa, former central president and PRO; Alwyn D’Souza, state president of AICU; Sr Jyothika, superior of Bethel Convent; Arun D’Souza, vice-president of the Parish Pastoral Council; Jyothi D’Souza, secretary; Dolphy D’Souza, Catholic Sabha president, Mangalore South deanery; and programme convener Nelson Rodrigues.

Unit president Melwin C D’Souza welcomed the gathering, while secretary Leslie Ferrao proposed the vote of thanks. A special highlight of the evening was the cutting of the Christmas cake, made more joyful with the presence of Santa Claus and entertainers dressed as Mickey Mouse and other characters.

During the programme, the Paura Karmikas of Ullal City Municipal Council were honoured in recognition of their service. The newly elected vice-president and secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, along with the 21-commission coordinator, were also felicitated.

The celebration was enriched with music and melody led by Merel D’Souza, with members presenting Christmas carols and an entertaining cultural programme. The event was compered by Reeshal D’Souza and concluded with dinner followed by a lively Baila dance, marking a joyful close to the Christmas celebration.
