Los Angeles, Dec 15: Global music star Ed Sheeran has made it clear that he has no interest in joining the celebrity line-up of the popular dance reality show Strictly Come Dancing, delivering a tongue-in-cheek remark that quickly grabbed attention.
According to Mirror.co.uk, the 34-year-old singer-songwriter — celebrated for hits such as Shape of You, Perfect and Sapphire — has firmly shut the door on any future appearance on the BBC dance series, despite being widely considered an ideal A-list contestant.

Sheeran, who showcased polished ballroom moves in the 2014 music video for Thinking Out Loud, would seemingly be a natural fit for the show, which is set to conclude next week with a high-profile finale. Fans have long expressed their desire to see him take to the dance floor in sequins, but the singer remains unconvinced.
Addressing the question backstage at the Capital Jingle Bell Ball, Sheeran bluntly responded, “No,” before adding with a grin, “I enjoy being married.” The comment was widely interpreted as a playful nod to the so-called “Strictly curse,” a term often used to describe relationships that allegedly unravel during the course of the show.
Downplaying his dancing abilities, the former street performer admitted that dance is not his strongest suit. “You’ve got to do what you’re good at, and that ain’t what I’m good at,” he said. While acknowledging past dance performances, he explained that they required intense preparation.
“Thinking Out Loud was six weeks of full-on ballroom dancing every single day — basically hardcore Strictly Come Dancing, just without it being on television,” he added.
During his performance at the Jingle Bell Ball on Saturday, Sheeran also offered a personal touch by dedicating the song Heaven from his Play album to his wife Cherry, noting that it is her favourite track.
Sheeran married his childhood friend Cherry in a private ceremony in 2018 after several years of dating, later confirming the marriage publicly. Despite his fame and past dance success, the singer appears content to keep his dancing off reality television — and his marriage well away from any so-called curses.
