Panaji, Dec 11: With the withdrawal of nominations complete, 226 candidates are officially in the race for the Zilla Panchayat elections scheduled on December 20. Of these, 111 contenders are from North Goa and 115 from South Goa, vying for a total of 50 seats across the state.

In preparation for polling and counting, the Goa government has announced that all licensed liquor outlets in ZP jurisdictions of both districts will remain closed on December 19, 20, and 22, 2025. The restrictions, however, do not apply to municipal areas or the Corporation of the City of Panaji.

Restaurants holding Bar & Restaurant licences may continue operating but strictly for food service. Bars must stay shut, no liquor may be served, and establishments are required to display notices clearly informing patrons that only food service is available during the dry days.
