Mumbai, Dec 10: Make-up and prosthetics expert Preetisheel, who crafted the character appearances in the newly released film Dhurandhar, has shared fresh insights into the creation of Akshaye Khanna’s striking look as Rehman Dakait.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, she posted several stills of the actor from the film along with a detailed note explaining how his on-screen persona was shaped through meticulous make-up and prosthetic design. Preetisheel wrote, “Designing the legendary #akshayekhanna’s look for Dhurandhar was all about capturing the subtle intensity he brings to every frame. We focused on clean structures, precise detailing, and tones that enhanced his strong features without overshadowing the character. Watching the look come alive through his performance made the entire process incredibly rewarding.”

With a star-studded cast including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, Preetisheel said the challenge lay in ensuring each character looked rooted in the same world while still retaining a distinct identity. She emphasized that even background and minor roles received close attention because each character carried their own quirks and traits.

She explained that portraying rawness was essential, and layered textures in makeup helped define personalities, making even the briefest appearances feel authentic. According to her, hair design played a major storytelling role, changing over the course of the film to reflect time, emotional shifts, and pressure. Every element—from scars and tanning to sweat, dust, and continuity-matched details—was added with intention. She noted that the prosthetic and blood-effect work pushed the realism further, with some results being “genuinely stomach-churning.”
