Jammu, Dec 8: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday reaffirmed the nation’s unwavering gratitude to the Armed Forces, stating that India “will always remain indebted” to the sacrifices of its soldiers. He made the remarks while interacting with Armed Forces veterans at Lok Bhavan in Jammu.

L-G Sinha paid rich tributes to the martyrs and extended heartfelt appreciation to serving personnel, veterans, and their families. He also made a generous contribution to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, emphasising the importance of collective responsibility in supporting those who safeguard the nation’s sovereignty.

He reminded citizens that Armed Forces Flag Day — observed on December 7 — underscores the duty of every individual to contribute toward the welfare of soldiers, ex-servicemen, and their families. He urged people across the country to donate generously to the fund, which directly supports the well-being of defence personnel and dependents.

The event was attended by Brig. Pankaj Chib (Retd), Director Sainik Welfare Department; Principal Secretary (Home) Chandraker Bharti; along with several veterans and officials including Col B.S. Sambyal (Retd), Col Manjit Singh Bhau (Retd), Wg Cdr Tirath Singh (Retd), Capt (IN) Kapil Sharma (Retd), and others.

Earlier in the day, the L-G laid the foundation for houses being constructed for families affected by shelling during Operation Sindoor. He announced that the Human Resources Development Society (HRDS), which signed an MoU on Monday, will build new homes for those whose dwellings were destroyed by Pakistan’s shelling along the border.

Sinha also assured that these families will receive healthcare insurance coverage and modern amenities in the newly constructed houses. Additionally, he revealed that an extensive relief package has been submitted to the Centre for flood-affected residents, reaffirming that their rehabilitation remains a top priority for the administration.
