Trump orders food supply chain task forces to tackle price fixing

Daijiworld Media Network – Washington

Washington, Dec 7: US President Donald Trump on Saturday signed an executive order establishing food supply chain security task forces within the Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to address risks from price fixing and anti-competitive practices.

“My Administration will act to determine whether anti-competitive behavior, especially by foreign-controlled companies, increases the cost of living for Americans and address any associated national security threat to food supply chains,” Trump stated in the order.

The executive order empowers the Attorney General and the FTC chairman to initiate enforcement actions and propose new regulatory measures if investigations reveal anti-competitive behavior affecting the food sector.
