Beltangady, Dec 4: Fr L M Pinto Hospital, Badyar, marked a historic milestone on December 1, 2025, with the blessing and inauguration of its newly upgraded emergency ward, ultrasound unit, reception counter and advanced X-Ray machine, further strengthening its emergency and diagnostic services for the rural population of Badyar and neighbouring areas.
The programme began with a solemn blessing ceremony led by Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of the Diocese of Mangalore, who invoked god’s blessings upon the new facilities, medical staff and all patients who will benefit from the upgraded services. This was followed by the unveiling of the plaque and the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new emergency block, new ultrasound machine, reception counter and X-Ray machine.
The inauguration was carried out jointly by Michael D’Souza, Flavia D’Souza and their son Adrien, together with the Bishop. The presence of the Michael D’Souza's family added great significance to the event, as they have been the major benefactors, contributing more than Rs 80 lac towards the construction and development of the emergency department and adjoining facilities. In appreciation of their remarkable support, the Bishop felicitated the family during the programme.
































































The stage programme was anchored by Fr Roshan Crasta, administrator of the hospital, who welcomed and acknowledged all dignitaries on and off the dais. The event began with a warm welcome address by Sr Janet, nursing superintendent, expressing gratitude to all guests, partners and the local community for their continued cooperation with the hospital’s mission.
A special highlight of the occasion was the introduction of the new hospital anthem composed by Fr Abel, reflecting the hospital’s mission and spirit of compassionate care. The anthem was rendered for the first time by the Badyar Church Choir members along with the hospital staff, adding an inspiring and meaningful note to the event.
The hospital management expressed deep appreciation to all benefactors and collaborators who made the new developments possible, with special gratitude to Michael D’Souza for his sustained contributions that have been instrumental in modernising the hospital’s services.
On this occasion, Sampath Ratna, engineer and contractor from SLV Constructions, was honoured for his dedicated service and professional execution of the project. Local Panchayat leaders were also present, expressing their support for the hospital’s continuous efforts toward improving rural healthcare delivery.
The newly inaugurated emergency ward is equipped with improved infrastructure, critical-care beds, advanced monitoring systems and essential emergency equipment, enabling the hospital to handle trauma cases, cardiac and obstetric emergencmies, paediatric emergencies and other acute medical conditions more effectively.
The installation of the state-of-the-art ultrasound achine and digital X-Ray machine is expected to significantly enhance diagnostic accuracy and reduce patient waiting time. The newly designed reception counter aims to ensure smoother patient flow and quicker registration, thereby enhancing the overall patient experience.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks, followed by a guided tour of the upgraded facilities. The event reaffirmed Fr L M Pinto Hospital’s commitment to compassionate service, medical excellence and modernisation in response to the growing healthcare needs of the community.
