Hema Malini remembers Dharmendra
Days after Dharmendra’s passing, Hema Malini penned a deeply emotional tribute to her late husband. “Dharam ji. He was many things to me. Loving husband, adoring father to our two girls Esha and Ahaana, friend, philosopher, guide, poet, my ‘go-to’ person in all times of need—he was everything to me,” she wrote.
She added that Dharmendra won the affection of her entire family with his warmth and humility. “His talent, his humility despite his popularity, and his universal appeal set him apart as a unique icon, unequalled among all the legends. His enduring fame and achievements will last forever.”
Calling her loss “indescribable”, Hema Malini said the void left behind will remain for the rest of her life. “After years of togetherness, I am left with myriad memories to relive the many special moments,” she wrote.
Dharmendra, one of Indian cinema’s most cherished stars, had been unwell and was hospitalised on November 10. Though discharged after a few days, his condition remained delicate. His death on November 24 left the film fraternity and fans in deep shock.
He was cremated in Mumbai on November 25.
