RPF constable shoots colleague dead inside Raigarh post; accused in custody

Raigarh, Dec 3: In a shocking incident reported from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) post in Raigarh during the early hours of Wednesday, an RPF head constable allegedly shot his fellow colleague dead following a heated altercation.

According to police sources, the accused personnel, identified as S. Lader, reportedly entered into a verbal dispute with his batchmate P.K. Mishra. Eyewitnesses stated that the situation quickly escalated, leading Lader to draw his service revolver and fire at Mishra around 4 am, leaving him critically injured. Mishra succumbed to the gunshots on the spot.

Additional SP (Raigarh) Akash Markam confirmed the incident and stated that the accused has been taken into custody. “The exact reason behind the dispute is yet to be ascertained. A detailed investigation is underway,” he added.

The sudden turn of events created panic among staff members present at the RPF post, following which senior officials rushed to the scene. RPF IG Bilaspur Zone, Munawwar Khurshid, along with a forensic team, inspected the site as the post was sealed for procedural examination.

Preliminary information revealed that Lader hails from Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh, whereas the deceased Mishra was a resident of Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh.
