Chennai, Dec 2: The long-awaited Malayalam thriller Drishyam 3, directed by Jeethu Joseph and starring Mohanlal, has reportedly completed filming, according to industry sources. The update comes a day after Mohanlal wrapped his portions, celebrated on set with a cake-cutting video that quickly went viral. A circulating photo of the film’s clapboard marked “Pack Up” has further fueled confirmation that the full shoot has concluded.
Mohanlal began work on the project just before receiving the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The film, launched in September with a traditional puja ceremony at a Kochi law college, continues the story of Georgekutty — one of Malayalam cinema’s most iconic characters.

Director Jeethu Joseph earlier revealed that the new chapter follows Georgekutty’s life four and a half years after the events of the second film. Producer Antony Perumbavoor said the team moved ahead with the third installment only after extensive discussions, convinced that the overwhelming reception to the first two films meant “Georgekutty’s journey had more to reveal.”
Filming took place across Thodupuzha, Vagamon, and Ernakulam, where the final five-day schedule was completed.
The Drishyam franchise, known for its masterful suspense and Mohanlal’s powerful performances, has become a landmark in Indian cinema. The first film (2013) set a new standard for thrillers, while Drishyam 2 (2021) broke viewership records both in theatres and on OTT platforms.
Drishyam 3 is slated for a March 2026 release, and anticipation is already soaring among fans in India and worldwide.
