Rajkot woman slapped by dog owner after pet approached her, video sparks outrage

Gujarat, Nov 27: A disturbing incident at Surbhi Possible Flats on Rolex Road in Kotharia, Rajkot, has gone viral, showing a woman being slapped by a dog owner after her pet approached the victim. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, was captured on CCTV and shared widely on social media.

According to reports, the dog, owned by Payal Goswami, approached Kiran Vaghela while she was waiting for the lift. It is not yet clear whether the dog actually bit her. When Vaghela raised her concern to a man accompanying the owner, who was holding the leash, the response from Goswami shocked onlookers. Instead of calming the situation, she slapped Vaghela, and the two engaged in a heated argument.

The video was shared on X by the NCMIndia Council For Men Affairs, an advocacy group, tagging local authorities and calling for strict action against the dog owner.

Netizens expressed outrage over the incident, criticizing the dog owner’s reaction rather than the dog’s behavior. Comments highlighted that owning a pet comes with responsibility and that the priority should be accountability, not aggression. Some users demanded compensation for Vaghela for the mental and physical distress caused by the assault.

This incident has reignited discussions about responsible pet ownership and the importance of handling such situations calmly and responsibly. Authorities have yet to comment on any action taken.
