Imphal, Nov 27: Manipur Police, in a joint operation with Assam Rifles, arrested three militants, including a woman, on Wednesday, for allegedly threatening to trigger explosions during the ongoing Sangai tourism festival, officials said on Thursday.

The arrests follow a video posted on Facebook on November 21, in which the suspects allegedly threatened to bomb the festival, being held from November 21 to November 30. The militants, active cadres of the banned KCP (MFL), were apprehended from Imphal East, Imphal West, and Thoubal districts.

Police stated that further investigation into the matter is underway. The festival has faced boycotts from displaced persons and civil society organisations across the northeastern state, adding to the sensitive security environment during the event.
