Adpai road restoration kicks off after two-year delay

Ponda, Nov 25: In a long-awaited relief for residents, restoration of the internal roads in Adpai village under the Marcaim constituency finally began on Sunday morning. The stretches had remained dug up for nearly two years due to underground cable-laying works, leaving locals grappling with dust, uneven surfaces and major commuting inconvenience.

Power minister and local MLA Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar, who inspected the work, announced that the Rs 2.8 crore project would be completed within three months. The restoration includes constructing nearly 60 cross drains and carrying out hotmix carpeting to bring the roads back to full usability.

Dhavalikar expressed gratitude to the villagers for their patience during the prolonged disruption and urged them not to dump construction material on the roads, allowing machinery to move freely for timely completion.

Sarpanch Chandan Naik assured residents that once the restoration is done, the need for further digging would not arise, promising smoother days ahead for the village.
