Ayodhya, Nov 25: In a moment steeped in devotion and national attention, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday ceremonially hoisted a majestic saffron flag atop the newly completed Ram Temple, marking the formal culmination of the historic construction project. The grand ceremony unfolded during the auspicious Abhijit Muhurat, in the presence of key dignitaries.
Modi was joined by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as the sacred Dhwajarohan ritual took place within the temple premises, drawing thousands of devotees to witness the landmark event.

The newly unfurled flag, a right-angled triangular banner measuring 10x20 feet, carries symbolic elements— a radiant Sun, the sacred ‘Om’, and the revered Kovidara tree. Temple authorities highlighted that its saffron hue embodies the essence of fire, sacrifice, and rising energy, symbolising spiritual resolve and unwavering dedication.
Champat Rai, general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, noted that the flag-hoisting marks the “formal conclusion” of construction activities at the grand shrine, a project that has drawn global attention.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister held a vibrant roadshow from Maharishi Valmiki International Airport to the temple complex. Residents, devotees, women, and youths lined the route in large numbers, showering flower petals as Modi’s convoy passed through amid heightened security. While many waved the national flag, others held BJP flags bearing the lotus symbol.
At the temple entrance, Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended a warm welcome to the Prime Minister. Adityanath later wrote on X describing Ayodhya as the foremost among the seven sacred cities, expressing his heartfelt greetings to Modi.
Before attending the Dhwajarohan ceremony, Modi offered prayers at the Sapt Mandir inside the temple complex. Sharing a photograph on Facebook, he posted, “Landed in Ayodhya to take part in the Dhwajarohan Utsav at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir!”
The ceremony, filled with spiritual fervour and cultural pride, has further elevated Ayodhya’s significance as a centre of devotion and heritage.
