Bengaluru, Nov 24: Former Team India fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad has been elected unopposed as the president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). The development came after the nomination of the rival camp’s candidate, K N Shanth Kumar, was rejected during scrutiny.

The Karnataka High Court had earlier directed that elections for the KSCA president’s post be conducted on December 7. Following the court order, both Venkatesh Prasad and Shanth Kumar had filed their nominations.

However, during the scrutiny process held today, Shanth Kumar’s nomination papers were found invalid, clearing the path for Prasad to be declared elected even before polling day.

With this, the celebrated cricketer takes charge of the state cricket body, marking a significant moment for Karnataka cricket.
