Saligao, Nov 23: Saligao MLA Kedar Naik on Saturday inaugurated the work of laying a 323-metre sewerage line in Ward 8 of Reis Magos Panchayat, which will connect to the Porvorim sewerage scheme. The event was attended by Reis Magos ZP member Sandeep Bandodkar, ward panch Prasanna Nagvekar, and local residents.

Naik said the rocky terrain in Ward 8 prevents water from soak pits from percolating, causing inconvenience, and the new sewer line addresses a long-standing public demand. The Rs 2.50-crore project will feature 10 manholes and is expected to be completed within a year.

He also announced plans to develop two open spaces in Ward 8 under the Goa Tourism Development Corporation, including a senior citizens’ park and a children’s play area, urging residents to provide No Objection Certificates to start the projects without delay. Ward member Prasanna Nagvekar thanked the MLA for responding to the locals’ long-pending demands.
