Chittoor, Nov 22: A 19-year-old nursing student, Pallavi, died on Friday morning after jumping from the fourth floor of her hostel building in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh. She was a second-year BSc Nursing student at PES College.

Officials said Pallavi was experiencing mental distress. CCTV footage showed her jumping from the hostel on Thursday evening. She was rushed to a hospital by staff and students but succumbed to her injuries the next morning.

Pallavi’s family has accused college authorities of negligence, citing a lack of oversight and support. Police have registered a case of suspected suicide and launched an investigation.

The incident caused panic among students and staff, with parents raising serious concerns about hostel safety.

This comes shortly after similar tragedies in Chittoor and Srikakulam districts, including two engineering students from SITAMS in early November, one of whom died, and another 20-year-old engineering student who took her life last week in Srikakulam.
