Constable dies in self-accident near Mandrem Temple

Mandrem, Nov 21: A 46-year-old police constable from Dhargal, Shubham Gadekar, died in a self-accident near the Maharingan temple in Mandrem early Thursday morning.

The mishap occurred around 6:30 am when Gadekar was on his way to duty at the Siolim Coastal Security Police Station. He reportedly lost control of his two-wheeler, which then rammed into a roadside vehicle repair garage. He sustained grievous injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Mandrem police have conducted a panchanama, and the body has been sent for autopsy.

Meanwhile, locals have raised concerns over the presence of numerous roadside garages in the Mandrem constituency, pointing out that several motorists have met with accidents after hitting vehicles parked along these stretches.
