Daijiworld Media Network – Patna

Patna, Nov 21: BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has been appointed as Bihar’s new Home Minister after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar finalised portfolio allocations for all 26 ministers in the newly formed NDA government on Friday. The complete list of departmental assignments has been submitted to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan.

Deputy CM Vijay Sinha has been given the Mines and Geology Ministry, while senior BJP leader Ramkripal Yadav will head the Agriculture Department.

With the BJP holding the largest share in the cabinet, the party has secured several key ministries, including Home, Health, Road Construction and Agriculture. The power-sharing arrangement follows Nitish Kumar’s swearing-in for a record tenth term on Thursday.

In the new council of ministers, BJP has 14 berths, JD(U) has 9, LJP (Ram Vilas) has 2, while HAM(S) and RLM have one each.

NDA sweeps Bihar polls

The National Democratic Alliance registered a landslide victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, securing 202 of the 243 seats. The BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 89 seats, followed closely by JD(U) with 85. LJP(RV) won 19 seats, HAM(S) secured 5, while the Rashtriya Lok Morcha won 4 seats.

The strong mandate paved the way for Nitish Kumar to continue as Chief Minister, supported by a significantly strengthened BJP.
