Mangaluru: Father Muller Paediatrics hosts Children’s Day

Mangaluru, Nov 21: The Department of Paediatrics, Father Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH), together with the department of paediatric nursing, Father Muller College of Nursing (FMCON) and Department of Speech and Hearing celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm in the Conference Hall on the afternoon of November 15. The event was a heart-warming occasion, filled with joy, laughter, and togetherness, bringing bright smiles to the faces of our young participants. Anchoring the event with grace and enthusiasm were the emcees, Dr Himalini and Dr Satwik.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Dr Anil Shetty, professor and head of the Department of Paediatrics, who set a cheerful and heartfelt tone for the celebration. The chief guest, little Miss Iza, a three-year-old who successfully underwent a bone marrow transplant for thalassemia major, was felicitated for her remarkable courage. Her story stood as a true inspiration to everyone present. To celebrate her extraordinary bravery, Father Muller Charitable Institutions recognised her with a heartfelt honour.

The event was honoured by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, director of FMCI; Fr George Jeevan Sequeira, administrator of FMMCH; Dr Michael Santhumayor, administrator of FMMC; Dr Antony Sylvan D’Souza, dean of FMMC; Dr Kishan Shetty, deputy medical superintendent of FMMCH; Prof Sr Danya Devasia, principal of FMCON; Prof Cynthia Santhumayor, principal of the Department of Speech and Hearing; and Prof Wilma Noronha, Head of Paediatrics Nursing.

The celebrations continued with vibrant dance performances by the students and staff, followed by a prize distribution ceremony recognising the young winners of the drawing, reel-making, and fancy-dress competitions. Orchid plants were presented as mementos to the esteemed judges. Adding to the excitement, Mr. Rajesh Mali captivated the audience with a lively magic show, while Sam delighted the children with impressive balloon sculptures. The event also featured engaging face-painting activities, bringing even more colour and joy to the day.

The programme concluded with a gracious vote of thanks by Dr Shreya G Shenoy. With the participation of FMCI staff children, hospitalized children and their families, and the teams from the Paediatrics, Speech and Hearing, and Nursing departments, the event became a truly memorable Children’s Day—filled with joy, courage, and heartfelt togetherness.
