Terror Suspect Held Near US Capitol: FBI

Washington, Feb 18 (IANS): A terror suspect has been arrested near the US Capitol as part of an anti-terrorism investigation, the FBI said in a statement.

The suspect was carrying explosives that had been deactivated by officers, Xinhua quoted the FBI as saying Friday.

"Explosives, the suspect allegedly sought to use in connection with the plot had been rendered inoperable by law enforcement and posed no threat to the public," said the statement.

The suspect was planning a suicide attack on the Capitol with explosives he received from undercover officers, whom he thought was associate of Al-Qaeda, CNN reported.

The US Capitol is the meeting place of the US congress, the legislature of the federal government of America.
