Udupi, Nov 19: Deputy commissioner Swaroopa T K emphasised the vital role of sports in enhancing both physical and mental well-being while inaugurating the Annual Police Sports Meet–2025 at the Mahatma Gandhi District Stadium in Ajjarkad on Tuesday November 19,2025.
Addressing the gathering, the DC said that police personnel often work under intense stress and demanding circumstances. “Sports events like these help improve physical fitness and refresh the mind, ultimately boosting work efficiency. The disciplined and well-organized sports meet by the Police Department sets an example. Regular participation in sports or exercise is essential for maintaining fitness,” she noted.
She further urged other government departments to take inspiration from the police department and host similar sports events to ensure the well-being of their staff.
The event began with an impressive parade by various units of the police department. Dignitaries received a ceremonial guard of honour, followed by the presentation of the sports torch.
Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar delivered the welcome address, while additional SP Sudhakar Naik proposed the vote of thanks.
