Mangaluru, Nov 16: The 72nd All India Cooperative Week celebrations scheduled to be held in Dakshina Kannada on Sunday, November 16, will be a model for the entire state, said MN Rajendra Kumar, president of SCDCC Bank.
He was addressing reporters on November 15 after inspecting the final arrangements at the Karavali Utsav Grounds, the venue for the district-level celebrations.





Kumar said the event has been planned with the objective of further strengthening rural development through cooperative institutions. “Dakshina Kannada has always demonstrated how the cooperative model can transform the lives of ordinary people. The state government has conferred the Cooperative Ratna award on eight achievers from our region, and they will be honoured during tomorrow’s programme. A special commemorative issue marking the Silver Jubilee of Navodaya will also be released,” he said.
This year’s celebration is being jointly organised by the Karnataka State Cooperative Federation Limited, Karnataka State Cooperative Marketing Federation Limited, SCDCC Bank, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi District Cooperative Unions, Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union, Navodaya Grama Vikas Charitable Trust, agricultural cooperative societies of both districts, urban cooperative banks, Sahakara Sanghas, various cooperative institutions, and the cooperative department.
The Cooperative Manikya Award for 2025 has already been declared for three cooperative institutions, including an outstanding agricultural cooperative society and a credit cooperative society from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Two new products of the Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union are also set to be launched at the event.
Kumar added that the scale of participation and collaboration reflects the strong cooperative culture in the coastal region, and the district is fully prepared to host the state-level event.
Several office-bearers were present at the press meet, including Deviprasad Shetty, vice president Vinay Kumar Surinje, Ramesh, K V Raviraj Hegde, Ravindra Kambli, Gopinath Bhat, Monappa Shetty, Jayaraj Rai, A R Raghu, Sadashiva Ullal, and others.
