Panaji, Nov 15: Goa has intensified its focus on Russia — the State’s largest and high-spending international source market — as a 37-member delegation from the country commenced a week-long familiarisation tour on Thursday. Tourism officials said the outreach marks a renewed push to strengthen ties with Russian tour operators and travellers.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said Russia remains central to Goa’s international tourism profile. “Goa shares a very warm and longstanding relationship with the Russian market. We value this continued trust and interest, and we are committed to strengthening this connection. Our focus remains on ensuring that every traveller enjoys a safe, pleasant and memorable stay,” he said.

Officials highlighted that Russian tourists have remained consistently loyal to Goa, contributing significantly to hotel occupancy, charter operations and local businesses. “Russian travellers have consistently shown deep appreciation for Goa’s culture, hospitality and lifestyle,” Tourism Director Kedar Naik told the visiting delegation.
Tourism veteran and TCI–SITA COO Ernest Dias noted that arrivals from Ekaterinburg and Moscow are expected to remain strong through the season. He added that the Russian segment has historically recorded higher per-capita spending compared to other European markets.
As part of the visit, the officials presented an overview of Goa’s diverse tourism offerings — from culture, cuisine and wellness to adventure and premium hospitality — to help Russian partners curate itineraries that go beyond beach-centric travel.
The delegation will spend seven days exploring various experiences across Goa, including spice plantations and other curated attractions. Officials said the visit is part of a broader effort to bolster Goa’s international outreach and consolidate its strong presence in the Russian market ahead of the peak tourism season.
