Jammu, Nov 14: Jammu & Kashmir lt governor Manoj Sinha on Friday said that the Union Territory has been experiencing exceptional economic and infrastructural progress since 2019, marking one of the most transformative periods in its history.
Speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the first phase of celebrations commemorating 150 years of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ at Maulana Azad Stadium, the L-G noted that the UT’s growth trajectory has sharply accelerated in recent years.
“The going has never been as good for Jammu & Kashmir in the past as it has been since 2019,” Sinha said, adding that the region’s economy has shown “impressive” expansion since 2021, supported by rapid infrastructure development across sectors.

He highlighted that J&K’s industrialisation efforts are producing strong results. “We have taken bold decisions, taking Jammu & Kashmir into a brighter future and ensuring far greater prosperity for our people,” he said.
The event drew a massive gathering, with over 20,000 students and citizens participating in a collective rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’. The Lieutenant Governor announced that J&K secured the top rank nationally for participation in the week-long celebrations marking 150 years of the national song.
Sinha paid tribute to Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, the composer of ‘Vande Mataram’, and emphasised his enduring influence on India’s freedom movement. He urged citizens to embrace Bankim Chandra’s ideals to help propel Jammu & Kashmir towards a more progressive future.
He also called upon the public to dedicate themselves to nation-building by shedding remnants of the colonial past and reinforcing values of unity, equality, and collective spirit.
Referring to the strong community participation seen in initiatives like Har Ghar Tiranga and the Vande Mataram celebrations, the L-G said these reflect a new wave of national pride in the Union Territory. “This transformation is causing great pain to some people,” he remarked, implying resistance from elements uncomfortable with J&K’s current direction.
Sinha reaffirmed that the administration remains committed to sustaining the region’s upward economic momentum and nurturing a harmonious and progressive society.
