Panaji, Nov 13: Advocate Santosh Malvikar, a tourist from Kolhapur, has accused police personnel stationed at the Dodamarg border of demanding bribes and harassing travelers, sparking outrage after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

Following his formal complaint, Malvikar was summoned to the Panaji Police Station, where his statement was recorded. He has urged the Superintendent of Police to launch a detailed inquiry and convene a meeting with officers to issue strict directions preventing such misconduct.

“It’s not tourists who are defaming Goa, but the behaviour of a few errant police officers,” Malvikar said, stressing that Goa’s long-standing reputation for hospitality must be preserved.

The viral video has triggered widespread public discussion, with many demanding accountability and transparency from the authorities.
