New Delhi, Nov 13: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out extensive search operations at 10 different locations spread across five states in connection with the Al-Qaida Gujarat terror conspiracy case involving illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, officials confirmed on Thursday.

According to an official statement, the raids were conducted on Wednesday at the premises linked to suspects and their associates in West Bengal, Tripura, Meghalaya, Haryana, and Gujarat. The agency said that several digital devices and incriminating documents were seized during the operation, which have now been sent for forensic examination.

The case, registered in 2023, revolves around four Bangladeshi nationals — Mohd. Sojibmiyan, Munna Khalid Ansari, Azarul Islam, and Abdul Latif — who had allegedly illegally entered India using forged identity documents. The NIA has accused them of having links with the proscribed Al-Qaida terrorist organisation.

As per the agency, the accused were involved in collecting and transferring funds to Al-Qaida operatives based in Bangladesh. They were also reportedly engaged in motivating Muslim youth towards extremist ideologies.

The NIA had earlier filed a charge sheet on November 10, 2023, before a Special Court in Ahmedabad in connection with the case. Further investigations into the wider network and financial trail are underway, the agency added.
