Srinagar, Nov 12: In the aftermath of the deadly car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort metro station that claimed twelve lives on Monday evening, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday carried out an extensive search operation in Kulgam district, raiding over 200 locations associated with the banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).

The coordinated crackdown came as part of a wider security operation launched across the Kashmir Valley and the national capital, a day after the explosion sent shockwaves through the country.

According to officials, the Delhi Police has intensified checking drives across the city, deploying paramilitary forces at all major entry and exit points, including Ghazipur, Singhu, Tikri, and Badarpur borders. Vehicles entering and leaving the capital are being thoroughly inspected, while security checks have been tightened at metro stations, railway terminals, bus stands, and busy markets.

Anti-sabotage squads, sniffer dogs, and metal detectors have been stationed at sensitive areas, and residents have been urged to report any suspicious movement or objects through emergency helplines. Coordination meetings involving Delhi Police, Intelligence Bureau, and paramilitary forces are being held to review intelligence inputs linked to the blast.

Sources revealed that the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) module responsible for the Delhi explosion carried out the attack in panic, following multiple raids by security agencies that had busted its hideouts in Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

In the Valley, police have launched vehicle checking drives across districts including Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam, Baramulla, Ganderbal, and Shopian. The intensified operations aim to trace potential links between local networks and the module behind the Delhi blast.

Officials confirmed that enhanced security measures will remain in place until further notice, as both Delhi and J&K remain on high alert.
