Mangaluru, Nov 11: Yenepoya Hospital Blood Centre, proudly announces the reintroduction of its mobile blood donation bus, which was handed over by Rotary Mangaluru to Yenepoya Hospital Blood Centre in September 2023, now upgraded with modern features to enhance donor experience, safety, and outreach.
This initiative marks a significant step in strengthening community health services and fostering a culture of voluntary blood donation among students, staff, and the wider public.



The newly refurbished mobile unit is equipped with:
• Donor couches, for enhanced comfort and safety.
• Temperature-controlled storage to ensure optimal preservation of collected blood.
• On-board rapid screening facilities for hemoglobin and blood group testing.
• Real-time GPS tracking to facilitate community outreach and event coordination.
The bus will operate on a rotational schedule across urban and rural zones, in collaboration with local health authorities and NGOs. Special donation drives will be organized during national health observances and emergencies.
This initiative aligns with the Universities broader mission to integrate innovation with service, ensuring that no life is lost due to lack of blood.
The refurbished bus was inaugurated by the medical superintendent – Dr Habib Rahaman AA, in the presence of assistant medical superintendent’s Dr Nagaraj Shet and Dr Thalangara Mukhthar Abdulla, HOD of department of pathology – Dr MH Shariff.
The first mobile blood donation camp post refurbishment was held at Sajipa on November 10, and around 50 units of blood was collected.
