Lucknow, Nov 10: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested a man from Greater Noida for allegedly publishing books promoting communal hatred and receiving foreign funds through hawala channels.

The accused, identified as Farhan Nabi Qaddiqi, co-director of M/S Istanbul International Pvt Ltd, was arrested from the Kasna area of Greater Noida on Friday. According to ATS officials, Qaddiqi and his associates were running a publishing network that produced and distributed literature aimed at spreading enmity among different religious groups.

Acting on intelligence inputs, the ATS launched an investigation which revealed that funds were being illegally transferred from abroad to the company’s accounts through hawala and other unlawful channels.

During the probe, it was found that Qaddiqi, along with Nasi Tobaad and others, operated several entities including Hakikat Wakfi Foundation and Real Global Express Logistic Pvt Ltd. Under these entities, books in Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, and Bengali were published and circulated, allegedly carrying content that could disturb communal harmony.

ATS officials further alleged that illegal Bangladeshi nationals were given shelter at Qaddiqi’s residence. The investigation also suggested that foreign funds amounting to around Rs 11 crore were utilized for purchasing land meant for madrasas and mosques.

A case has been registered at the ATS police station in Lucknow, and further investigations are underway to trace the entire network and its international funding links.
