Tesla sells 40 cars in October, total sales cross 100 mark in India

Daijiworld Media Network – Mumbai

Mumbai, Nov 9: Elon Musk-led Tesla recorded sales of 40 units in October, taking its cumulative deliveries in India to 104 since its entry into the market earlier this year. The electric vehicle major had sold 64 cars in September.

According to industry data, Tesla’s retail sales in October saw a 37.5% month-on-month decline. The company, which opened its first showroom in India in July, currently operates two experience centres — one at Maker Maxity in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, and another at Worldmark 3 in Aerocity, New Delhi.

Tesla presently offers only the Model Y SUV in India. The redesigned Model Y, which was the world’s best-selling electric vehicle in both 2023 and 2024, is available in two variants — rear-wheel drive and long-range rear-wheel drive — offering ranges of 500 km and 622 km (WLTP) respectively.

The EV maker has stated that deliveries for the Long Range Model Y customers will commence soon. Tesla inaugurated its first Indian showroom in Mumbai in July, followed by the Delhi experience centre in August, marking its expanding footprint in the country’s fast-growing EV market.
