New Delhi, Nov 8: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has scored a sweeping victory in the local body elections across the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu, clinching nearly every seat in the District Panchayat, Municipal Council, and Sarpanch polls.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked voters for their overwhelming support, calling it proof of the region’s strong faith in the BJP’s development agenda.

“Gratitude to my sisters and brothers of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu for blessing the BJP with phenomenal support,” PM Modi said on X. “This reflects the UT’s deep connect with our party’s vision for development. I laud our hardworking karyakartas for their efforts at the grassroots.”

According to official figures, the BJP won 15 of 16 District Panchayat seats, 14 of 15 Municipal Council seats, and 15 of 16 Sarpanch posts in Daman. In Diu, the party swept all 8 District Panchayat seats. In Dadra and Nagar Haveli, it secured 24 of 26 District Panchayat seats and all 15 Municipal Council positions.

BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya hailed the outcome as a “historic victory,” saying it reaffirmed people’s unwavering trust in Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.

The landslide win underscores the BJP’s organisational strength and the public endorsement of its governance model in the coastal Union Territory, which has seen major infrastructure and administrative reforms in recent years.
