Priyanka Gandhi accuses BJP of vote theft’, slams Modi and EC in Bihar rally

Daijiworld Media Network - Patna

Patna, Nov 8: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday launched a blistering attack on the BJP leadership and the Election Commission, accusing them of “vote chori” during a rally in Purnea.

Addressing the crowd, Priyanka claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was resorting to electoral manipulation after realizing public opinion was turning against him. “The Constitution empowers citizens to vote and decide governments. But when the BJP saw people rejecting them, they started stealing votes. Narendra Modi is a vote thief, and with him are top EC officials Gyanesh Kumar, Vivek Joshi, and S.S. Sandhu,” she alleged.

She also criticised Modi’s public language, claiming it focused on guns, kidnapping, and extortion, rather than addressing citizens’ concerns.

Highlighting agrarian issues, she cited the death of a farmer in a fertiliser queue in Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, as an example of the government’s neglect.

Priyanka further accused the Modi government of favouring industrialists over ordinary citizens. “Land in Bihar was handed over to his industrialist friend at just one rupee per acre. If even a small portion had been given to youth, they could have built their future,” she said.

The Congress leader also criticised repeated exam paper leaks in Bihar, which she said were wasting youth opportunities and preventing employment despite vacant government posts.

Priyanka highlighted her brother Rahul Gandhi’s voter rights initiatives, including the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar, claiming it sought to protect citizens against voter suppression. “65 lakh votes were removed from Bihar’s voter list because the BJP fears the people. Now the people are waking up, saying — develop the state or leave power,” she said.

She outlined the benefits of voting for the Mahagathbandhan, including reducing inflation, subsidised cooking gas, land distribution, financial support for women and the elderly, and better wages for self-help groups.

Invoking Bihar’s historical legacy, Priyanka said, “This state has contributed immensely to nation-building. Its farmers inspired Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha, and its people must recognise their strength to shape the future.”
