Baby’s body to be exhumed in Krishnagiri amid suspicion of foul play

Krishnagiri, Nov 7: In a shocking turn of events, the body of a six-month-old baby is set to be exhumed in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district on Thursday for a fresh post-mortem, following allegations by the child’s father that the death may not have been natural.

The infant, who was earlier believed to have died while being breastfed, was buried on the family’s agricultural land after a case of unnatural death was registered, but without a post-mortem examination.

The father later approached authorities, claiming to have found messages, photos, and videos indicating a relationship between the child’s mother and another woman. He has alleged that the baby may have been harmed due to tensions arising from this relationship.

A senior police officer told NDTV that the focus at present is on determining the exact cause of death. “We want to first confirm if the baby was murdered. If yes, the law will take its course. Otherwise, we have nothing to do with their relationship,” the officer said.

A medical team is expected to conduct the post-mortem after the exhumation today, and the results will guide the next phase of the investigation.

Police have stated that, for now, the case is being treated as one requiring medical clarity before any criminal action is taken.
