Karkala: Fire destroys paddy straw godown in Ajekar

Karkala, Nov 7: A major fire broke out at a paddy straw godown near Perwaje Pattonjikatte in Ajekar, causing significant loss on Thursday.

According to reports, the fire is suspected to have started due to an electrical short circuit at the godown belonging to Shashank S Rao, located beside a mushroom factory. Paddy straw worth around Rs 3 lac was destroyed in the blaze before it could be brought under control.

Firefighters from the local fire station rushed to the spot and managed to extinguish the flames, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby areas.

The operation was led by station officer Chandrashekar, assisted by personnel Rupesh, Sukesh, Sanjay, Mujabil, and Nithyanand.
